An extraordinary week of poetry events with an impressive line-up of 12 award-winning, nationally acclaimed faculty and guest poets headlined by Dana Gioia, former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (2003-2009). Special events include “Ballet’s Child,” a ballet inspired by the poems of Lani Scozzari, with choreography by Donna Murray (Friday night) and Performance Poetry with Malcolm London and Rachel McKibbens on Saturday night.

    FREE - Bring your family and friends out to the Veterans Park Gazebo for a night of interactive music and hands-on art. Musicians of all ages are welcome to bring an instrument and join the open "jam session" style music. For the artists among us, easels and art supplies will be set up and open to anyone wanting to explore their inner creativity in an non-instructional play environment.   • Spady Cultural Heritage Day "Spady Day"

    The old ways of living and thriving in Florida will come to life at the Living Heritage Day (a/k/a “Spady Day”), when the Tradition Bearers of Renaissance Park of Marianna, FL share how pioneers made household products, such as lye soap and straw brooms, and meals straight from the land. Activities for children and family, such as storytelling, a bounce house and face-painting, will be available. The fun will take place on the Spady Museum complex at 170 NW 5th Avenue in Delray.

    This year, the Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrates its 47th year, rejoicing in our Irish heritage and honoring the service of the International Firefighters. The 2014 parade draws Marching Pipe & Drum Bands from around the world. In past years, marching firefighter bands from Dublin, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Canada and Australia have joined the festivities and traditionally play at the Irish Siamsa and Party. Join us for one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the nation and pay tribute to the brave Firefighters across the globe.

    In 2015, the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 53rd year of the Delray Affair. Nicknamed the “Greatest Show under the Sun”, the Delray Affair is the largest arts & craft festival in the Southeast United States. The event takes place along the palm tree lined downtown streets of Delray Beach and stretches 12 city blocks from the Intracoastal to NW 2nd Avenue, grounds of Delray Beach Center for the Arts and Old School Square Park.
