The City of Delray Beach Campaign for Grade Level Reading in partnership with the Delray Beach Public Library will be celebrating National Summer Learning Day on July 12, 2018. The celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the library located at 100 West Atlantic, with a special musical performance by Peter Freudenberg “Sliding about Trombones” (sponsored by Waste Management). Your child will learn all about this 500 year old instrument while having fun listening to stories and signing songs! Following the performance, there will be a free pizza party and every child will receive a free book provided by Jarden Consumer Solutions.
Summer Learning Day will help our community elevate the importance of keeping kids learning, to be safe and healthy during the summer and ensures they return to school in the fall ready to succeed. Your participation sends a powerful message to your child that summer learning matters! National statistics show that children that do not read over the summer can lose up to 2 ½ months of learning and fall behind academically when they start back to school. Kids need to READ to succeed!
