Happy New Year! #LoveDelray - Photo Pop-Up

Tuesday, December 29, 2020 - 2:29pm

Image: Initial drawing of the pop-up by local artist Sharon Koskoff

There is a new photo opp in town! A temporary one that is…The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority has commissioned local artist Sharon Koskoff to paint a colorful and fun, pop-up photo opp to welcome in the new year. The 8 foot by 12 foot, three-panel, wood slab is shaped like a postcard and depicts a heart-shaped sun dawning over a blue-green ocean wave, plumeria flowers, and starfish. The words “Welcome 2021! Love, Downtown Delray Beach” grace the sandy shores and are meant to bring a positive message to Downtown Delray going into the new year.

As we leave the woes of 2020 behind, we welcome in the new year and new prospects. We want to share a positive message with the community and show our love for downtown Delray Beach and to all who work, live, and play here. Everyone is invited to visit this art installation, take photos, and share the #LoveDelray message!

This instagrammable pop-up art piece will be located at Old School Square Park (near the 100 ft Christmas Tree) from Tuesday, December 29th to Monday, January 18th, 2021.

ATLANTIC CROSSING: ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE — 10.23.2020

Wednesday, October 14, 2020 - 5:34pm

ATLANTIC CROSSING

NORTH GARAGE MAT SLAB CONCRETE POUR

October 23, 2020

MOT will begin set-up on Federal (US 1), Atlantic Avenue and NE 7th Avenue around 9:30 pm on Friday, October 23rd. Local law enforcement will be present to assist with this MOT set-up and during this entire concrete pour. Federal Hwy. will be closed between Atlantic Ave. and NE 1st St. during this concrete pour

Concrete pumps will also arrive around 10:00 pm and begin their set-up. At this time the plan is to erect #1 and #2 concrete pumps on the north end of the east side of NE 6th Ave. near NE 1st St. and #3 and #4 pumps erected on the north end of NE 7th Ave. The north end parking lot of Atlantic Plaza will be utilized for the concrete wash out station.

At approximately 10:30 pm, concrete trucks will begin staging on Federal Highway, south of Atlantic Ave. with the concrete pumping starting immediately thereafter.

Our concrete subcontractor estimates that this particular pour should cease around 12:00 pm Saturday afternoon. MOT on Federal and Atlantic will be removed once the pour is completed which should occur around 1:00 pm on Saturday

Law enforcement personnel will be staged at the intersections of Federal & Atlantic; Atlantic & NE 7th Ave. and NE 1st Street and Federal; and will remain until concrete trucks are no longer accessing the site. In addition to these personnel, our concrete subcontractor will have numerous flagmen with lights assisting with the movement of trucks in and out of the garage area.

Concrete Truck Route

All trucks will be staged along the east side of Federal Highway with one northbound lane open  to Atlantic Ave. Vehicular traffic on Atlantic Ave around the site will be limited to east-west travel with no turning from either direction on to north Federal. Trucks servicing the concrete pump on NE 7th Ave will turn right on Atlantic and then left on to NE 7th. Once emptied, they will go to the north parking lot for clean-out. Once cleaned, they will enter NE 1st Street and head west to Federal. At this point some trucks will turn right on to Federal to head north out of town or some will cross Federal to NE 5th to head south.

Trucks servicing the concrete pumps on NE 6th Ave. will head north on Federal and back up to the pumps. Once emptied, they will turn right on NE 1st St. and proceed to the north parking lot and cleaned, they will leave the site and turn left on to NE 1st and then either right on to Federal or straight to NE 5th Ave and then left on 5th.
